Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about Reg’Activ® Formulas

Q. What is Glutathione?
A. Glutathione consists of three amino acids (glutamate, cysteine, and glycine), and it is called the Master Antioxidant because it is the most abundant and most important antioxidant in humans. Glutathione is made in every cell, and one of its primary “jobs” is to protect all the components within every cell from free radical damage. Glutathione is also called the Master Detoxifier because it regulates detoxification reactions throughout the body.

Q. Why should I take Reg’Activ®?
A. Reg’Activ products contain Lactobacillus fermentum ME-3, a unique strain of probiotic bacteria that produces glutathione. Increasing glutathione levels is one of the most important proactive steps to improve health and slow aging because it will enhance your antioxidant protection and increase overall detoxification.

Q. How does ME-3 increase antioxidant protection?
A. ME-3 probiotic bacteria produce glutathione. They also recycle or regenerate oxidized (inactive) glutathione to its reduced or active form. Also, ME-3 glutathione production results in recycling or reactivating other antioxidants like vitamin C, vitamin E, coenzyme Q10, and lipoic acid. ME-3 also synthesizes another important intracellular antioxidant called manganese superoxide dismutase of Mn-SOD. Because it produces both glutathione and Mn-SOD, ME-3 is an antioxidant superstar. In human trials, people taking ME-3 exhibited a 49% increase in glutathione (the ratio of active glutathione vs. oxidized or inactive glutathione) and a 26% increase in Total Antioxidant Activity (TAA) throughout the body.

Q. How does taking Reg’Activ® increase detoxification?
A. It is well established that glutathione is required for and regulates virtually all detoxification processes in the body. Because ME-3 in Reg’Activ® products substantially increases glutathione levels, it will enhance the removal of toxins from all cells, especially in the liver, the primary organ of detoxification.

It is imperative to realize that glutathione is required to metabolize and detoxify many agricultural toxins such as glyphosate and organophosphates, which are weed killers and pesticides commonly used in agriculture and residential use on lawns and gardens. Glutathione is also required to detoxify toxins like mercury, lead, and cadmium commonly ingested in alcohol and drugs. Increased exposure to environmental toxins in our food, water, and air, along with the massive use of medications (both Rx and OTC), causes glutathione levels to be depleted. Increasing glutathione levels by taking Reg’Activ with ME-3 can substantially improve whole-body detoxification.

Q. How does Lactobacillus fermentum ME-3 in Reg’Activ® boost glutathione levels?
A. ME-3 is capable of boosting glutathione levels by three different mechanisms. Each daily dose of Reg’Activ® contains 4 to 6 billion ME-3 bacteria capable of synthesizing glutathione. The ME-3 bacteria can also extract glutathione from the surrounding environment and regenerate oxidized glutathione back to its reduced/active state. Because ME-3 can boost glutathione levels via three different mechanisms, scientists call Lactobacillus fermentum ME-3 a Complete Glutathione System. It is worth emphasizing that nothing before has ever been discovered to boost glutathione by three different mechanisms as ME-3.

Q. Do I still need to take Dr. Ohhira’s Probiotics ®?
A. Dr. Ohhira’s Probiotics® are still the best premium probiotic in the world to improve gut health. On the other hand, Reg’Activ® products with Lactobacillus fermentum ME-3 increase glutathione levels, affecting every cell in the body. Therefore, Dr. Ohhira’s Probiotics® and Reg’Activ® with ME-3 represent a powerful synergistic combination to enhance, improve and maintain optimal health.

Q. Are Reg’Activ® products safe for children?
A. Yes, since glutathione is required in all the cells, Reg’Activ® products with ME-3 can help boost the immune system and overall health of people of all ages. While we don’t recommend that Reg’Activ® be given to infants, we think that children old enough to swallow a capsule (maybe around age 7 or 8) can benefit from boosting their glutathione levels by taking Reg’Activ®.
