We were blessed with a few brilliant beams of sun this weekend and it felt amazing. It was like a breath of fresh air, providing a little sample of what’s to come this spring. So in the spirit of those bloom-filled days that are just around the corner, I’m sharing 3 things I’m completely smitten with that will put a little spring your step, making you look and feel beautiful inside and out.

Good Health Starts at Home

Our living spaces can accumulate dust, allergens, and toxins over time, negatively impacting our health. Deep cleaning and decluttering can improve air quality and reduce the risk of allergies and respiratory issues. Go through your home or office and remove anything you don’t need or use anymore. Donate or sell items still in good condition, and recycle or dispose of anything beyond repair.

Our homes can accumulate dust and toxins from cleaning products, air pollutants, and everyday items such as furniture and carpets. Using natural and eco-friendly cleaning products can help reduce exposure to harmful chemicals and create a healthier living environment. Many all-natural cleaning products are on the market, but vinegar and water with a few drops of essential oil also work great!

Additionally, incorporating plants into our homes can help purify the air and bring a sense of calm and tranquility. Plants promote healthier air quality, which helps alleviate stress and anxiety. Breathing indoor toxins can affect your overall health, so indoor plants should be a beautiful and essential part of your home detox.

Declutter a ‘Messy’ Mind

Our mental health is as important as our physical health, and spring cleaning can positively impact both. As we declutter our physical space, we also declutter our minds, creating a sense of clarity and peace. It is also a great time to let go of negative thoughts and emotions and focus on self-care and mindfulness. This can involve practicing gratitude, journaling, or engaging in activities that bring us joy and relaxation.

Just like your physical space, your digital life can become cluttered. Go through your emails, social media accounts, and other digital files, and delete anything that is no longer necessary. One study suggests that we spend 45 minutes daily searching through digital information we need to do our jobs. Unsubscribe from email lists and unfollow social media accounts that no longer serve you.

Detox your Body

Lastly, detoxing our bodies is crucial for optimal physical health. Winter can lead to unhealthy habits, such as consuming comfort foods and being less active. Spring is the perfect time to reset our bodies by incorporating more water, fresh fruits, and vegetables into our diets and increasing physical activity. This can also include trying out new forms of exercise and incorporating relaxation techniques like yoga or meditation. Detoxing our bodies can boost our immune system, improve energy levels, and promote overall well-being.

There is no doubt that spring cleaning and detoxing our homes, minds, and bodies can benefit our physical and mental health. By creating a clean and healthy environment, decluttering our minds, and rejuvenating our bodies, we can start the new season feeling refreshed and revitalized by embracing a healthier and happier version of ourselves.

Juice Beauty

Did you know that your skin absorbs over 60% of what’s placed on it? Off-hand do you know the ingredients in your ‘favorite’ cleanser or mascara? I’ll be honest, before I started blogging (which really opened my eyes to good skincare practices), I was using whatever had a pretty bottle. Well, I’ll be the first to tell you – a pretty bottle does not create a pretty face.

So when Juice Beauty contacted me, I did a little research (as I always do before working with a brand) and discovered this stuff is really incredible! Juice Beauty creates clean makeup and skincare that is certified organic, vegan and cruelty-free. Their main ingredient in most of their product is organic juice!

Once I found out that Gwyneth Paltrow, whom I admire on so many levels, is their Creative Director for Makeup, I was game to try! The products I recommend include: Green Apple Peel Sensitive, Green Apple Age Defy Moisturizer, Green Apple Age Defy Serum, Stem Cellular Organic Exfoliating Peel Spray, Stem Cellular CC Cream, & Phyto-Pigments Ultra Natural Mascara.

Salad Power

I came across Salad Power via Instagram and knew I had to try it. They’re the only juice company that uses more vegetables than fruit! Their name lives up to the taste – you literally feel like you’re drinking a really delicious salad. It’s not too sweet, has a little spice and is the perfect morning or afternoon snack. Salad Power includes their veggie superfood blend in all of their juices which consists of kale, carrot, spinach, celery, cucumber, tomato and bell pepper. This makes them lower in sugar and higher in vitamins than most all other green juices. My favorite is the Assorted Pack which includes every flavor – Veggies + Apple, Veggies + Mango, Veggies + Pineapple & Just Veggies. And I love every single one.

Breathe Easy

The accumulation of dust pollutes the air you breathe in your home. If you also have pets, the mix of pet dander and dust can produce allergic reactions and even obstruct the nose and the lungs. If you or someone in your family have asthma, the dust can also trigger it. It is best if you can keep most of your house tidy every week, although fast cleaning can make you miss some dusty spots. A spring cleaning allows you to clear the air in every corner, and it will enable you to breathe better.

Prevents Accidents

Commonly, many people leave stuff out of order, thinking they’ll ‘put it away later‘ and then forget about it. It becomes part of the room backdrop, and you don’t pay much attention to it. But these misplaced objects can cause accidents that can lead to fractures and other injuries. When you can put everything is in its proper place and get rid of useless junk, you can prevent unnecessary accidents.

Improved mood

Most people complain whenever they would have to clean, but the truth is that cleaning your home, and putting everything in order, can give you peace of mind. Disorder and chaos can cause distractions, stress, and lack of focus. When things are in order and clean, it is easier to concentrate on the important stuff. It also gives you a sense of accomplishment, improving your self-esteem and mood.

Exercise

Cleaning burns calories! Your muscles are working when you move your body. If you add some music while you clean, you may even forget to do house chores and enjoy tidying up. In the end, you will have a beautiful, organized, and clean home while also feeling full of energy and relaxed.

Clean Eating

Healthy habits are one of the unexpected health benefits of cleaning are, and you may even find yourself eating more nutritious. Scientists have discovered that people are more likely to start eating healthy snacks and cooking healthy foods when in a clean and organized space.

Because of the mental peace of having a clean and uncluttered home, you may develop other healthy habits: daily journaling, meditating, reading, and taking wellness supplements that promote a healthy mind and body.

Protects the heart and improves sleep

Keeping yourself active is very beneficial for your body, especially your heart. Doctors recommend moving as much as you can and spending less time sitting on the couch or in front of a computer. If you spend less time sitting, you help the circulation of blood in your body, which helps to keep your heart healthy.

Picking things up from the floor and putting them in order is one of the many activities you do while spring cleaning. This simple activity helps keep your body in shape while boosting your energy. Good sleep hygiene and organizing your bedroom are also ways to help you feel more relaxed and fall asleep quickly. Also, don’t forget clean and comfy sheets and pajamas. The smell and feel of freshly washed clothes are soothing and help ease you into a relaxed state of mind!

Spring cleaning is an excellent opportunity to go through all your things and decide what you need in your life and what no longer serves you. It gives a new freshness to your home, making you feel good about yourself and what you have accomplished. Although there are many other health benefits of cleaning, the most important reason is that it helps you focus, gives you energy, and allows you to have a home you love.

Dr. Ohhira’s Probiotics

I’ve been taking Dr. Ohhira’s Probiotics for the past month and have noticed a significant difference in my daily digestion. “Science has established that approximately 70% of immune system cells reside in the digestive tract. Probiotics support those immune system cells by, among other things, crowding out unfriendly guests. The gut is the first line of immune defense, and to stay healthy, we need a healthy population of friendly bacteria.” If you’re looking to just feel better or maybe alleviate a little bloat before spring break – I definitely recommend Dr. Ohhira’s Probiotics to kick your system into gear…and to maintain a healthy, regular status (if you know what I mean).
