This month, we’re excited to shine the spotlight on Kathy LaForce, an integral part of the Essential Formulas team who brings passion, experience, and a deep belief in natural health to her work every day. As our Business Development & Training Educator, Kathy plays a key role in growing brand awareness, supporting retailers, and educating others about the science behind our products.

A Natural Fit

Kathy’s journey with EFI began in 2000, when she was first introduced to Dr. Ohhira’s Probiotics. “It quickly became clear to me that this was the real deal. It truly worked,” she recalls. “Customers not only experienced results but also returned repeatedly, which spoke volumes about the product’s effectiveness.”

After relocating to Portland, Oregon, Kathy discovered that EFI was seeking West Coast support and was delighted to join the EFI team in sharing the benefits of Dr. Ohhira’s Probiotics. “It was an easy decision—seeing firsthand the benefits people were experiencing made it something I believed in wholeheartedly.”

Eventually, Kathy’s dedication caught the attention of the Schoors, who offered her and her husband the opportunity to relocate to Texas and take on a larger role within the company. “As an EFI family-based company that operates with integrity, we were happy and proud to say yes,” Kathy says. “I’ve always felt grateful to work for a company whose mission and values align so closely with my own.”

Making a Daily Difference

In her role, no two days are the same. Kathy spends her time collaborating with brokers, identifying new marketing opportunities, and, perhaps most importantly, training and supporting retailers to ensure they have the tools and knowledge to make Dr. Ohhira’s products a success in their stores.

Her favorite part of the job? “I love the products and all the science-based education. I love the research!” she says enthusiastically. “Most of all, it’s the support from the office and being part of a family-based company. Marty and William Schoor go out of their way to ensure that I have what I need to succeed.”

Building Connections and Reaping Rewards

One of the projects Kathy is most proud of is her work supporting retailers in-store and fostering strong relationships with accounts. These connections are foundational to EFI’s continued growth and success. And, while Kathy has taken on various roles throughout her career, returning to EFI in 2023 felt like coming home.

She recalls her first company retreat after rejoining the team: “I didn’t know everyone, and they were so welcoming. I realized again what a family they have all become. It was like I never left. Great people!”

A Passion for Wellness—In and Out of the Office

Kathy not only inspires with her work but also lives a life filled with passion, curiosity, and a love for the natural world. Outside of EFI, she enjoys horseback riding, hiking, and studying the health benefits of plants. Always a student of natural health, she says her view of probiotics continues to evolve. “I am continually learning the true nature of probiotics, and their benefits are endless.”
